BIOGRAPHY

Remo Buti before he graduated in architecture was a craftsman and a ceramist. He was among the most innovative teachers of the University of Architecture in Florence where he teaches the Interior Design and Architecture course becoming spokesman for the "liberation of the imagination against the tyranny of the economic system”. His didactic has carried out a lucid critical approach towards the profession of architect, stimulating free and alternative creativity. «Poetic recovery of the object - writes Buti - overcoming the functionalism that leads to the aridity of the creative processes subjected to productive criteria, to spiritual simplism. Liberation of the imagination and of the existential experience against the massified approach of aseptic and analytical production systems and against the tyranny of the competitive economic system "(R. Buti, L'utente nel paese delle meraviglie, in«Casabella», n. 362, 1972). With other radicals architects, he is one of the founders of the Global Tools counter-design school. Parallel to the teaching activity, he won a lot of international awards about urban planning, architecture and design. Thanks to his design research with a strong visual and communicative component he attended at various Venice Biennale and Milano triennale .
